Tongue piercing has been popular for many decades. This classic piercing still stands as one of the piercings we perform the most. The barbell that is inserted after healing can be changed and customized according to your style and taste. You may want a glittery ball or a top that conveys a message.

How is a tongue piercing placed?

The most common placement of a tongue piercing is in the center of the tongue. The tongue consists of two muscles that run parallel backwards and down a bit in the throat. In the middle you have no muscle and the tissue is soft. It is in the soft part of the tongue that we normally place your tongue piercing. The bar then goes vertically through the tongue and is placed in front of the frenulum linguae, which attaches the tongue to the bottom of the oral cavity. This is considered by many to be one of the least painful piercings to have done, but the swelling afterwards can sometimes be uncomfortable.

The bar we use for tongue piercing is 1.6 mm thick and 18 mm long. After a couple of weeks, the bar is too long and it is recommended to change to a shorter one to avoid damage to the teeth. The most common size to change to afterwards is a 1.6 mm thick rod that is 12 or 14 mm long.

Piercing other parts of the tongue - Venom piercing

Another popular tongue piercing is called a vein piercing. It's when you put two rods side by side, one through each muscle. We recommend always choosing a barbell for tongue piercing. We do not recommend putting in a ring for tongue piercing because the ring risks hitting the teeth and causing damage to the enamel. We always use high quality titanium for tongue piercing. It is the same material used in Swedish healthcare. After the healing time (about 4-8 weeks), it is possible to switch to our jewelry in implant-grade surgical steel.

Piercing in the string under the tongue - frenulum piercing

There are virtually no limits to where you can place a piercing. This piercing that goes through the frenulum cord on the underside of the tongue is called a toungeweb. A toungweb usually heals quite quickly (about 3-5v) and normally a bcr ring is inserted but it is also possible to insert a small curved rod. How your particular string looks is very individual. How do I take care of my tongue piercing?

The healing of your tongue piercing and your health go hand in hand, so it's important that you are healthy when you get your piercing and that you stay healthy during the healing period. Avoid alcohol and nicotine. When you pierce yourself at India, a titanium healing jewel of the same high quality used in healthcare is included. It is hypoallergenic and should last the entire healing time. A tongue piercing normally takes 4 weeks to heal. You can usually change the healing jewelry to another hypoallergenic jewelry after 4 weeks depending on how it feels and looks.
It is important that you always have a piece of jewelry in your new hole. During the healing period, it is not unusual for it to be sore. After about a week, some wound fluid may appear. The tongue can and usually does swell a bit the first 3-5 days. During these days, we recommend that you eat as usual, avoiding strong, sour and salty foods. Even "sticky" foods like porridge and mashed potatoes. Rinse your mouth with plain cold water after eating.

What do I do when I want to change the jewelry in my tongue piercing?

When changing the jewelry, it is important that you:

• Use freshly washed hands.
• Unscrew the ball on the healing jewelry.
• Spray with India disinfectant spray or use a mouthwash without alcohol.
• Disinfect your new jewelry with rubbing alcohol such as Chlorhexidine.
• Gently insert your new jewelry.
• Do not pick at or "play" with your new tongue piercing.
• Make sure you always have a piece of jewelry in your tongue piercing. Otherwise, there is a risk that the hole will grow again. This can happen in just a few hours.
