Helix, our customers' favorite piercing.
This piercing is one of our most customers' most popular piercing, second only to the earlobe. Helix is located at the outer edge of the upper ear and can be varied with both rod and ring. The piercing is always performed with a rod for faster and better healing. This is because a ring is subject to a lot of movement. Once your helix piercing has healed, you can switch to a ring or shorter rod. We have lots of beautiful
helix jewelry to choose from. It is very nice to have several helixes in a row. What will look best on your particular ear, and the style that you have and want to convey, you can work out with your piercer at indiapiercing.
A helix piercing is performed with a needle that is 1.3 mm thick and the rod that is inserted is a labret that is 1.2 mm and 8 mm long. It is advisable to visit us after about 6-8 weeks to change to a shorter rod to avoid unnecessary pressure on the rod that can cause it to heal crooked.
The most common size of the ring is 1.2 mm thick and 8mm in circumference.
When piercing a helix, it takes a very long time for it to heal to 100% and it is not uncommon for irritation blisters to occur. These can be treated and do not mean that you should automatically take it out.
Should you get blisters on your helix, we recommend the following.
1. clean your piercing thoroughly with our spray or sodium chloride (saline solution) and clean the jewelry in the shower.
2. apply Tee-tree oil or zinc ointment with a tops every evening for about 14 days. Always perform a skin test on Tee-tree oil as it may be strong in direct contact with the skin. If irritation occurs, be sure to mix the oil or spray with our spray afterwards so the oil is mixed out.
3. keep the oil on during the night and wash the piercing clean on the mogon.
Irritation blisters occurring around cartilage piercings is not unusual as the healing time on these is long. The reason is that you have poor blood circulation in the cartilage and it takes longer for the body to transport oxygen.

Healing and health go hand in hand, so it is important that you are healthy when you get pierced and that you stay healthy during the healing period. Avoid alcohol and nicotine. Also avoid baths and saunas for the first 3 weeks. When you pierce yourself at India, a titanium healing jewelry of the same high quality used in healthcare is included. It is hypoallergenic and should be worn for the entire healing period. Helix normally takes 3 - 18 months to heal. You can usually change the healing jewelry to another hypoallergenic jewelry after a few months depending on how it feels and looks. When changing jewelry, it is important that you use freshly washed hands. Unscrew the ball on the healing jewelry. Spray with India disinfectant spray and wash clean with a cotton pad. Disinfect your new jewelry with rubbing alcohol such as Chlorhexidine from the pharmacy. Insert your new jewelry carefully. For the entire first year, it is important that you have a piece of jewelry in your new hole. In the first year, the healing process is fragile and sensitive, and it is not unusual for irritation to occur during the healing period. Therefore, do not wear too heavy or large earrings in the first year. During the healing period, it is not unusual for it to be sore. After about a week, a little wound fluid may appear. This is completely normal and should not be confused with pus. Your new piercing is easy to care for. Spray with India's disinfectant spray morning, evening and after showering. Spray one shower in front and one in back. Allow to air dry. Do not use tops, cotton or anything else. Any scabs can be gently washed off in the shower with lukewarm water and mild perfume-free soap. The most important thing during the healing period is that you do not touch your newly removed piercing with unwashed hands. You should not screw or twist the jewelry, it can not heal firmly. Change your pillowcase a couple of times a week, avoid headphones, creams, makeup and other things that can irritate your new piercing.
