Conch, a piercing in the middle of the inner ear
A conch sits through the cartilage in the center of the inner ear. We recommend and perform this piercing with a labret. You can choose a rod with or without a crystal. Once your conch has healed, you can switch to one of our stylish rings. We have a large selection of
conch piercing jewelry both with and without crystals. When choosing a ring for your conch, it is not recommended to have a ring that fits too tightly, but that there is a certain angle on the ring that follows the natural shape of the ear. This is to avoid pressure when sleeping on that side. Should pressure occur, the body will tell you by swelling up, becoming irritated and starting to ooze a little. Should this happen, insert the rod with which the hole was made and start treating it as if it were newly made, ie wash on our disinfectant spray morning and evening.
When we perform a conch, we use a needle that is 1.3 mm thick and the most common size of the jewelry is a labret, a rod with a plate on the back that allows you to sleep without problems. The size of the jewelry is usually 1.2mm thick and 8mm long. After about 8 weeks, we recommend that you come to us to change to a shorter conch to avoid it healing crookedly.
Conch is currently one of the most popular piercings we perform.
When you pierce a Conch, it takes a very long time for it to heal to 100% and it is not entirely uncommon that irritation blisters can occur. These can be treated and do not mean that you should automatically take it out.
Should you get blisters on your conch, we recommend the following.
1. clean your piercing thoroughly with our spray or sodium chloride (saline solution) and clean the jewelry in the shower.
2. apply Tee-tree oil or zinc ointment with a tops every evening for about 14 days. Always perform a skin test on Tee-tree oil as it may be strong in direct contact with the skin. If irritation occurs, be sure to mix the oil or spray with our spray afterwards so the oil is mixed out.
3. keep the oil on during the night and wash the piercing clean on the mogon.
Irritation blisters occurring around cartilage piercings is not unusual as the healing time on these is long. The reason is that you have poor blood circulation in the cartilage and it takes longer for the body to transport oxygen.
