Guide on how to open and close a clicker ring for your piercing

Today, more and more people who buy a piercing ring for their septum piercing, for example, choose to buy a clicker instead of the classic bcr rings. Why, you may ask? A clicker has a small hinge with an articulated part that is easily opened and closed by a click function. You can therefore easily open up your clicker and change your piercing jewelry. We will explain in a few simple steps how to open and close your clicker and what to do if the click function becomes a little weak after using your clicker for a while. Here is a little guide with pictures to easily illustrate how a clicker ring works. If you are curious about our large range of clickers, you can find them here.

  • Figure 1 (top) shows what a clicker looks like when it is closed. Whether you choose a clicker with a thread thickness of 0.8 mm, 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm, the clicker works in exactly the same way.
  • Figure 2 shows how the clicker looks when it is open. Now you can see how the articulated part of the clicker folds up and there is an opening in the clicker when you insert it into your piercing.
  • Figure 3 shows the direction in which the articulated part moves when you open the clicker ring.
  • Figure 4 (bottom) shows how, if the clicker has become a little loose, you can apply a little pressure with your thumb and forefinger, at each side and the clicker. Squeeze a little but do not press too hard.
